Our Limited Edition Vegan Recipe Calendar 2018
A couple of months ago I came up with the idea of having a calendar featuring some recipes from our community group on Facebook. Lots of members often post pictures of their creations and I thought it would be good to share them in a dedicated vegan calendar full of lovely recipes.
We did a bit of research to find a company that would print a calendar using vegan ink on FSC approved paper, and of course we wanted our calendar to look great hanging on your wall!
We then went about asking for submissions. Although we were sent lots of great recipes, some didn’t have print-ready photos to hand, so we decided to cook and bake some of them ourselves, and have fun trying out lots of new recipes. So one mammoth weekend, there was a cooking/bakeathon, a photoshoot, lots of yummy food and the calendar was on its way to being born.
To make it extra special, our calendar is a limited edition, so don’t wait too long before you head to our Etsy shop to bag your copy.
After the year is up, just cut off the calendar part and you have a mini 12 page recipe book. So you are getting 2 for 1 and supporting a great cause (the Vegan womble blog and community resources) in buying it.

Creamy Watercress Soup with Flaked Almonds.
Phil has been vegetarian for most of his life and vegan for the last 11 years. He learnt his cooking skills when he co-ran a vegetarian restaurant in Norwich many years ago and found himself cooking for a number of big names like Chrissie Hynde and Martin Shaw. He then moved to Inverness and started cooking for the Riverdale Centre/Nourish. During this time he self published a cookbook called The Riverdale Cookbook which sells worldwide. This year he set up The Good Life Vegan Kitchen selling cakes to various establishments in the city as well supplying a health food store with his delicious savouries. He has future plans to open up a vegan café in Inverness.
Charlotte’s friends have been waiting patiently to find out how she makes this!
Charlotte went vegan in early 2016 and has never looked back. She was brought up using coupons, cashback and reductions to save money and now, with the help of her mum, shows people how to be vegan in the cheapest way via her Facebook page. She has even been on TV doing this. Her mum helps parents of vegans come to terms with a child becoming vegan (she’s not vegan), and demonstrates how it’s not going to break the bank. Her mum also helps with taste test videos. Charlotte loves baking so jumped for joy when she was made part of the Vegan Womble Recipe Calendar. That gave her the push she needed to apply for the Great British Bake Off and we wish her every success!
Barbara Jane Gray
Two of Barbara’s recipes are featured: Sweetheart Biscuits and Coconut Joys.
Barbara has been vegan for four years and I have been her mentor throughout her transition into veganism. She now helps with the admin in our Facebook Group. She loves cooking and baking, and was so proud that she was asked to contribute recipes to our calendar. She is married to vegan author Peter Gray who writes crime novels and poetry.
Two of Mike’s recipes are featured: Green Pepper and Kale Soup with Toasted Fingers and Nutty Nice Cream Caramel stacks.
Mike loves cooking and baking and sharing photos of his food and shopping finds and is a great asset to the vegan community.

Martin cooks for fun and has been vegan since early 2016. He is an ethically driven web designer who did our very own website make over. We love our new website and thoroughly recommend Banjo Design. He is married to…
Winter spice and Caramel Apple Muffins with a Crumble Topping.
Penny hates cooking, but loves baking her sugar-full cakes and muffins! She has been vegan since early 2016 and hopes to create a vegan baking cookbook one day, that is as much about the design as the recipes. She came on board this year to help me run the Vegan Womble blog and shop, and being a great photographer runs our Instagram account for us too.
Spicy Mexican Burritos.
Michael has been vegetarian for over 10 years and sent vegan in 2015. He then discovered his love for cooling and experimenting with tastes and new recipes and is always sharing his creations in our group, on his blog and via Instagram. He tries to combine his love for vegan food with his other hobby long distance walking and other outdoor adventures. As there are not many options for vegan adventurers he started working with another company who produce vegan outdoor food. He uses their products for his trail walks and provides help for other adventurers that are vegan. He also organises tours in Spain where veganism is not common.

Ben is very much into health and nutrition and enjoys the challenge of rewriting the cookery rule book since he became vegan this year.

Snickers Style Overnight Oats.
I have been vegan for over 23 years and I created Vegan Womble in 2009. It started out as a diary blog, as I wanted to share some of my recipe experiments. However I found that the lists and info articles seemed to be the favourites among my readers, and a great way to help other vegans and anyone interested in becoming vegan. It also helped to link our community and blog with all the pictures that I collect from within our Facebook Group.
I hope you enjoy all the super recipes in our calendar and, if you like what you see, make sure you let us Wombles know, fingers crossed there might even be another calendar for 2019 or even a future book!
